The Horizon Young Adults Seminar took place this past week in Budapest. There were 20 participants from our P2G communities (representing 7 communities from the US, Israel, and Budapest) and we had the privilege to also host the Indianapolis Maurer Koach group (20 participants), who joined us after their visit in Poland where they learned about its brutal Jewish history. It was a meaningful and powerful seminar where we visited Budapest’s Jewish heritage sites, learned about our Jewish roots and history, deepened the connections between us, and strengthened our remarkable Jewish network through our wonderful Partnership2Gether.
We were lucky to be hosted by the amazing Budapest young adults team and staff. Our Israeli young adults group shared what is going on in Israel and in the Western Galilee Partnership region since October 7th. A photo exhibition that was taken by Shlomi Cohen (one of our Israeli participants) was a YA project of the Israeli group and was shared with everyone. The pictures were in the spirit of values that we believe in, followed by photos that Shlomi took during his reserve service in Gaza.
Many of the participants said this session about Israel was powerful and meaningful for them and that it is so important for them to know and hear from us what we in Israel are going through and dealing with.
We had the privilege to be together, to learn and know each other, and to stand strong and proud on the same land and places that we were slaughtered in the Holocaust. To sing Hatikva together, to pray for the safety of all of us and for the return of our hostages, to sing Shir LaMaalot loud and proud, do Havdalah, and carry on our tradition and our Jewish roots…all of this at the same time that rockets and drones and shooting were happening in Israel.. and we are responding this time!!!
As the program coordinator, this made me even prouder and stronger…We are here to stay! This time we are taking an active action and not being led to destruction like it was in the past…Am Israel Chai!!!
Special thanks to our wonderful YA co chairs - Istvan Barsony from Budapest and Dana Bachar Grossman from Israel and to our YA US coordinator Benjamin Brodkey! And, of course, thank you to our amazing Partnership staff and family 🤍🤍🤍
Sincerely yours,
Sivan Friedman Lavi - P2G YA coordinator
