🎥 “1945”: Unveiling the Shadows of History

In the aftermath of World War II, when peace supposedly returned to the world, a small Hungarian village grapples with its own ghosts. Amidst the whispers of impending Communism, two Orthodox Jews return to their hometown for a final rite. But this isn’t a tale of revenge; it’s a reckoning with the sins of the past—the objects and properties stolen from Jewish villagers who vanished during the war.

Director Ferenc Török and screenwriter Gábor T. Szántó weave a poignant narrative, unearthing a forgotten chapter in Hungarian history. As smoke dances among the trees, we glimpse the mystical and the mundane, where realism meets powerful icons. The film invites us to explore a “missing chain” in our collective memory, urging us to learn, read, and watch—to understand the transition between Nazism and Communism that remains shrouded in silence.

Join us as we delve into the heart of “1945”, where spiritual traditions clash with greed, and buried secrets resurface. Let the shadows guide us toward illumination.
